Remote outpatient medical coder supporting the Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VAHCS). Codes outpatient visits and surgical procedures using the VA's VistA/CPRS system, maintaining a minimum 95% audit accuracy score. Requires solid grounding in anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, and current ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines, plus comfort applying CPT modifiers and Correct Coding Initiative bundling rules.
Requires a high school diploma, at least 2 years of outpatient coding experience, and at least 6 months of experience coding specifically for the VA (as a VA employee or with another VA contractor) plus experience with VIRR/WebVIRR software. Must hold one of the following: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H, or CIC.
