Codes and abstracts outpatient accounts (observation, ED, outpatient testing, ambulatory surgery, inpatient) using Optum's computer-assisted coding and encoder tools, assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes with at least 95% accuracy. Reviews medical records to ensure complete diagnosis/procedure capture, analyzes charges for edits, completes physician queries when documentation is unclear, and works independently as a remote employee with IT support for system troubleshooting.
Requires completion of an approved coding program (associate's degree or CCA/CPC certification preferred but not required) and ideally 6 months of inpatient or outpatient coding experience.
